International Student Scholarships
Every year, the LSA Scholarships Office grants a limited number of International Student Scholarships to international transfer students and first-year incoming Louisiana State University students.
Successful applicants of these scholarships are selected based on information submitted in both their undergraduate admissions application and their scholarship application, and the scholarships are renewable for two or four years of study, depending on your admission status.
What does the scholarship cover?
The International Student Scholarship supports qualified the Louisiana State University students with their educational expenses.
Amounts and Duration
Up to $25,000 USD in cash may be offered out. As long as students remain eligibility by meeting the requirements for every semester,
However, all international student scholarships can be continuous for two or four years of undergraduate study, depending on admission status.
Application Deadline
Applications for the 2024–25 academic season’s For International Student Scholarship have finally been opened.
Note that admission to the University Of Louisiana State University is the requirement for applying. Instead of waiting to decide on every application after the application deadline, the staff will begin to review applications on a “rolling basis”.
The probability that the applicant will be granted is based on an early submission, while there are no assurances about the exact date of selection.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for an International Student Scholarship, a student:
- Must be an incoming first-year or transfer undergraduate student admitted to a degree program in the College of LSA. Students will be considered even if they have not yet enrolled.
- Must NOT be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Must be enrolled (or intend to enrol) full-time (12 credit hours or more) each term.
How do I apply?
There are four steps in the application procedure.
- Step 1: Check your Wolverine Access friend account. On this page under the requirement, are directions for completing this: How do I confirm my friend’s account? This is where you may reset your password if you’ve forgotten it for your friend account. Here is where you can make a friend account if you do not yet have one.
- Step 2: Click the button below to access the LSA Scholarships application portal with your Friend Account ID and password when your Friend Account has been successfully validated. You won’t be able to access your account if you don’t validate it.
- Step 3: Fill out the general application form. When asked to select the scholarship program you are applying to, select “International Student Scholarship.”
- Step 4: After submitting your personal application, you will be asked to submit the International Student Scholarship program application. Submit this application so it can be reviewed in full.
Common Questions and Answers You Should Know
Do I have to be admitted to the College of LSA to apply?
To apply for the university Scholarships, you must be admitted to the University of LSA. Unless you are admitted, you will not have access to the application for International Student Scholarships.
How do I verify a Friend Account?
It will still require a login to access the university portal even if you are an admitted student and already have a friend account.
Proceed to Wolverine Access to authorize the account access. Use your friend account ID and password to log in after selecting the Students tab and New & Prospective Student Business. Please confirm the details you provided, such as your birthdate and the eight-digit UMID that you received via email.
After requesting and approving your friend account, you will be able to access our application system as well as several other university systems.
Access to its application system (as well as several other university systems) will be granted to you once you have requested and authorized your Friend Account.
It could take up to 24 hours for your new account information to be added to your new friend account once you create one and authorize it by confirming your personal information. Clear your cache once you have finished verifying your information
What if I don’t have a Friend Account?
All university systems, including the LSA Scholarships application platform, require a Friend Account for admitted students who have not yet enrolled.
You can create a friend account request here if you don’t already have one.
You must grant your friend account permission to access university systems after you have created it.
Go to Wolverine Access to accomplish this. After selecting the New & Prospective Student Business option under the Students menu, enter your freshly established Friend Account ID and password to log in.
Check your personal details, such as your birthdate and the eight-digit UMID that you received via email.
After requesting and approving your friend account, you will be able to use our application systems and several other university portals.
Note: Once you create a new Friend Account and authorize it by verifying your personal information, it may take 24 hours for your new account information to migrate to our application system, granting you access to the application.
Can I apply for the International Student Scholarship if I’m not a first-year student?
Currently, transfer and first-year students are eligible for international scholarships. International students enrolled in the University of Michigan at present are not eligible.
