The University Twente Scholarship (UTS) is offered to qualified students from non-EU/EEA countries who are applying to the University of Twente’s master’s degree (MSc).

- A unique opportunity to enrol in an intake for one of the three awards programs: Transformation Leaders, Creativity Distinction, or Research Honors.
Scholarship Value
The annual costs of scholarships range from € 3,000 to € 22,000, with about 50 slots available. Make sure you read the details regarding two-year study programs below if you have applied for a program with a duration of two years.

Note that this scholarship is meant to cover study-related cost. The scholarship applicant is free to choose how to use the scholarship money. There are no expenses (like tuition) that will be paid by them.
Two-year Study Programme
Students enrolled in a two-year study program are often eligible to be granted an additional UTS to cover second-year expenses, which is equivalent to the amount received in the first year.
However, the scholarship will only be renewed in the second year if the students meet the UTS application requirements.
You need to have received:
- ₧ of an average rating of seven (out of ten) after the first year’s
- At least 50% of the European Credits score after the first year’s third-quartile rank

Kipaji Scholarship
To be qualified for a Kipaji Scholarship, you must apply to the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS).
Additionally, we encourage you to demonstrate your interest in the application motivation letter if you are qualified for and interested in the Kipaji scholarship.
There are other requirements for this scholarship. Kindly ensure that you verify the details of the program.

Application Requirements
To be eligible for the University of Twente Scholarship, you should meet all the requirements below
- Application for a UT scholarship is a procedure separate from the application for course entry at the University of Twente. Regardless of funding, you will need to gain an academic admission letter first.
- You have been (provisionally) admitted to one of the qualifying UT Master programs starting in the academic year 2024/2025 (September). Please note: After completion of your application, it may take up to 8 weeks before you receive the results.
- You must have a student number.
- You have not graduated from a UT (under)graduate program.
- You comply with the conditions for obtaining an entry visa in the Netherlands (if applicable);
- You comply with the general English language test requirement Academic IELTS 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT of 90) and an additional 6.0 (TOEFL iBT 20) on the subscore of speaking skills
- You are not eligible for a Dutch study loan;
- The University Twente Scholarship is a scholarship for excellent students. Typically this means that you belong to the best 5 to 10 percent of your class
The UTS is not available for Dutch and/or current UT students.
The UTS is not available for EU/EEA students.
The UTS is not available for Master’s programs at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC).
The UTS is not available for the pre-Master program. UTS pre-master students can also not apply for the UTS when they wish to continue with a Master’s program.
Application Deadlines & Details
Round 1: Application deadline
- Application form opens on 15 October 2023
- Application forms close on 1 February 2024, 16.00 CET (for programs starting September 2024)
Round 2: Application deadline
- Application form opens on 1 February 2024,
- Application form closes on May 2024, 16.00 CET (for programs starting September 2024)
If you applied in round 1, and your application was rejected, an application in round 2 is not considered. You can only be awarded with one UT scholarship.
How to Apply
First, you must apply to a Master’s program. You can use your student number to apply for the scholarship after you have applied for a Master’s program and have obtained a (conditional) admission letter. Dutch and/or enrolled UT students are not eligible for UTS.
Students from the EU or EEA aren’t allowed to enroll in the UTS. For master’s programs in the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), the UTS is not offered. The pre-master program does not offer access to the UTS.
